The 2025 amusement and theme park season promises to be one for the history books, with innovative attractions and bold concepts debuting across North America. Here’s my personal look at the top 10 most exciting new attractions coming next year.

1. Universal Epic Universe – Universal Orlando Resort

May 22, 2025, marks the grand opening of Universal’s Epic Universe, a 750-acre game-changer in Orlando. Featuring five meticulously themed lands — from Harry Potter’s Ministry of Magic to How to Train Your Dragon’s Isle of Berk — the park is an adventure lover’s dream. The sheer scale and creativity behind this project are jaw-dropping. For me, Celestial Park, an entirely original concept, might just steal the show. Universal is setting a new bar for immersive experiences.

2. AlpenFury – Canada’s Wonderland

AlpenFury will make history as the tallest, fastest, and longest launch coaster in Canada. Premier Rides’ creation rockets riders to 115 km/h and soars 164 feet into the sky before navigating nine inversions around the iconic Wonder Mountain. As a fan of launch coasters, the interaction with Wonder Mountain has me especially excited — this will be a true showcase of thrills and beauty in harmony.

3. Siren’s Curse – Cedar Point

Cedar Point continues to push boundaries with Siren’s Curse, a Vekoma Cliffhanger tilt coaster. This ride promises a mix of breathtaking drops and unparalleled suspense, and I’m especially intrigued by the tilt mechanism — a first for North America. Cedar Point’s ability to blend storytelling with extreme thrills always keeps me coming back.

4. Rapterra – Kings Dominion

The 145-foot-tall Rapterra coaster by Bolliger & Mabillard will deliver an exhilarating launched wing coaster experience. Its 3,086 feet of twisting, looping track make it a standout addition to Kings Dominion. Having loved their Intimidator 305 (now called Pantherian) and Twisted Timbers, I can’t wait to see how this new addition ups the ante for coaster enthusiasts.

5. Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf’s Revenge – Busch Gardens Williamsburg

This homage to the original Big Bad Wolf tugged at my nostalgic heartstrings the moment it was announced. While the 40 mph family inverted coaster might not rival its predecessor in intensity, its nod to Arrow Dynamics’ legendary ride is a perfect mix of innovation and sentimentality. This one feels personal.

6. Wrath of Rakshasa – Six Flags Great America

Dive coasters are always a spectacle, but Wrath of Rakshasa is breaking records with its 96-degree drop and five inversions. Knowing Six Flags Great America, this ride will dominate the skyline and the conversations of coaster fans everywhere. As someone eagerly awaiting its opening, I can already feel the butterflies from that beyond-vertical plunge.

7. Arctic – SeaWorld Orlando

Flying theaters are immersive by nature, but SeaWorld’s Arctic promises a fresh twist with Mack Rides technology. I’m particularly eager to “fly” over icy landscapes and explore the Arctic underwater world alongside majestic marine life. This experience sounds like a poetic mix of adventure and awe — a perfect addition to SeaWorld’s lineup.

8. Fire Runner – Lost Island Theme Park

Lost Island might be a park that not many people know about, but Fire Runner could put it on the map. With a Rocky Mountain Construction single-rail design, this coaster’s tight turns and smooth inversions will deliver big thrills. Supporting smaller parks with world-class rides is something I admire, and this one has me rooting for Iowa’s underdog.

9. ‘Walt Disney: A Magical Life’ – Disneyland

This might be the most emotional debut on the list. Bringing Walt Disney himself to life through audio-animatronics at the Main Street Opera House is pure magic. As someone who grew up fascinated by Walt’s legacy, I can’t wait to witness this tribute in person. It feels like a heartfelt thank-you to the man who started it all.

10. Universal Horror Unleashed – Las Vegas

As a fan of Halloween Horror Nights, the idea of a permanent Universal Horror attraction is irresistible. The 110,000-square-foot space at Area15 promises scares, surprises, and creativity year-round. With Las Vegas as the backdrop, I can only imagine how this experience will amplify Universal’s reputation for immersive terror.

2025: A Year of Bold Innovation and Timeless Magic

With these attractions on the horizon, the 2025 season promises to deliver unforgettable moments for theme park enthusiasts like me. Whether it’s the nostalgia of Big Bad Wolf or the innovation of Universal Epic Universe, this lineup has something for everyone.
