Fall in the Smoky Mountains usually means colorful foliage, cooler temperatures and plenty of seasonal fun. This year, travelers visiting Pigeon Forge can add a little feudin’ to the itinerary.

Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud is introducing a new harvest-themed version of its popular dinner show, running Sept. 11 through Nov. 5. The limited-time experience gives the attraction an autumn makeover, adding fall decorations, seasonal comedy and Halloween-inspired entertainment to the familiar family feud.

For travelers planning a fall getaway to Pigeon Forge and Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it’s another way to enjoy the season after a day of sightseeing.

The Feud Gets a Fall Makeover

The seasonal atmosphere begins before the main show, when guests encounter a talking scarecrow accompanied by his own band. Jack-o’-lanterns, oversized spiderwebs, fall costumes and other harvest decorations help transform the theater for autumn.

Once the show begins, the Hatfields and McCoys discover yet another reason to argue. This time, the rival families are competing to see who can win a fall costume party at the Sevier County Fall Festival.

The competition sets up plenty of the over-the-top comedy the Pigeon Forge attraction is known for, but the fall edition also ventures into slightly spooky territory.

One of the seasonal highlights is a “Monster Mash” musical medley performed beneath a giant harvest moon, surrounded by fog, tree branches and other Halloween-inspired scenery. It adds a playful seasonal twist without turning the experience into a full-fledged haunted attraction, making it an option families can consider as part of a fall trip to the Smokies.

There’s Much More Than Comedy

The two-hour experience combines music, dancing, comedy and stunts, with performers taking the action from the attraction’s mountainside set to its 24-foot-deep swimming hole.

Dueling banjos and clogging are part of the fun, while Lil Hickory the pig gets involved in determining which feuding family deserves bragging rights as the best fall family in the Smokies.

Those elements help make Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud more than a traditional stage production. The large-scale sets, live animals, special effects and physical performances give travelers plenty to watch while the story unfolds around them.

Come Hungry

The show may change for fall, but one of the attraction’s biggest draws remains the same: dinner.

Guests receive an all-you-can-eat Southern-style meal beginning with creamy soup and hot bread. Fried chicken and open-pit pulled pork barbecue headline the main course, accompanied by mashed potatoes, buttery corn on the cob and coleslaw.

Dessert and tea or coffee complete the meal, with pumpkin pie pudding joining the dessert choices for a limited time during the fall season.

For families spending a full day exploring Pigeon Forge, combining dinner and entertainment into one experience can also make the evening portion of an itinerary relatively simple.

A Fall Tradition With a New Twist

Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud has been entertaining Pigeon Forge visitors since 2011, building its show around the exaggerated rivalry between two of America’s most famous feuding families.

The new harvest production gives returning visitors something different to experience while keeping the comedy, music, stunts and Southern feast that have defined the attraction.

With the Smokies changing colors outside and the Hatfields and McCoys battling over fall bragging rights inside, the new harvest show gives travelers another seasonal experience to add to a Pigeon Forge autumn getaway.
