With the recent merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair, the potential for innovative attractions at parks like Kings Island is immense. Among the exciting possibilities, I propose repurposing the building that once housed The Crypt ride for a thrilling new experience: a Vekoma Madhouse attraction themed around DC Comics’ The Joker.

Here’s how this concept could come to life.

Arkham Asylum Setting

Imagine stepping into the dark and foreboding world of Arkham Asylum, Gotham City’s infamous psychiatric hospital. The exterior of the building could be transformed to resemble the asylum’s eerie facade, while the interior would feature haunting hallways, cells, and chaotic scenes created by The Joker’s madness.

Storyline

The attraction’s storyline would be an integral part of the experience. Guests would be caught in the middle of The Joker taking over Arkham Asylum and turning it into his personal playground of chaos. Batman enlists the help of the guests to restore order and capture The Joker, adding urgency and excitement to the mission.

Special Effects

To truly capture the essence of The Joker’s madness, the Madhouse would utilize dynamic lighting effects, eerie projections, and unsettling soundscapes. These could simulate the chaos and unpredictability of The Joker, with sudden bursts of “Joker gas,” distorting visuals, and unsettling laughter that seems to come from all directions.

Pre-Show Elements

The ride would begin with a pre-show where guests are briefed by Batman himself via holographic communication. This briefing would introduce The Joker’s takeover of Arkham Asylum and outline the mission, setting the stage for the action to come. Imagine seeing a hologram of Batman, urging you to help take down The Joker!

Ride Experience

Once inside the Madhouse, guests would experience erratic movements and unexpected shifts, simulating the chaos The Joker brings. The ride would be designed to mimic high-stakes chases and confrontations, with synchronized motion and visual effects creating an exhilarating sense of disorientation and danger.

Villain Encounters

Throughout the ride, guests would encounter The Joker and his henchmen through advanced audio-visual effects. These encounters would be thrilling and intense, as guests face off against The Joker’s wild antics and chaotic traps. The Joker’s taunts and maniacal laughter would heighten the excitement and immersion.

Atmospheric Details

To complete the immersion, the attraction would be filled with creepy and unsettling music, maniacal laughter, and the sounds of chaos. From the moment guests enter to the final showdown, the atmosphere would evoke the fear and unpredictability of The Joker’s world.

Action-Packed Experience

By transforming The Crypt’s old home into a Vekoma Madhouse centered around The Joker, Kings Island could offer an exhilarating, action-packed experience that immerses guests in the chaotic world of one of DC Comics’ most iconic villains. This attraction would not only appeal to fans of The Joker but also provide a unique and thrilling addition to the park’s lineup, showcasing the exciting possibilities that come with the merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair.

I like the idea. I hate seeing that building stay vacant most of the year but at the same time I’m not the one cutting the checks. They probably should take their time and get all the finances squared away then start some revamping. I worry now with them being one company, if they screw up financially whose going to come to the rescue. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen

That would be neat. I have another idea with lesser WB/HB characters keep camp snoopy but add a family theme area that is Tom and Jerry themed .

I absolutely HATE the idea. Madhouses suck. And bringing in WB or dc characters to the park, in that building, to what was formerly home to the best attraction the park ever had, would be garbage.

I want something as close to TR:TR as possible. NOTHING I’ve ever rode has had my jaw on the floor as Tomb Raider did in its original form.
