As the countdown begins to the grand reopening of Six Flags Great America on April 20, the excitement is palpable. After months of anticipation, thrill-seekers like me are eagerly gearing up to experience the heart-pounding rides and attractions that this renowned Midwest amusement park has to offer.
One of the most talked-about additions this season is the exhilarating Sky Striker—a swinging pendulum ride that promises to take riders to new heights, literally! Standing at an impressive 172 feet, this ride swings through the air at speeds of up to 75 miles per hour, offering breathtaking views of the park and delivering an unforgettable freefall sensation. I can’t wait to experience a ride on this thrilling adventure! (Note: Sky Striker isn’t scheduled to open until later this spring.)

The anticipation is further fueled by the setting of the ride in the park’s County Fair section, close to iconic attractions like the American Eagle roller coaster. It’s amazing to see how the park continues to evolve, with Sky Striker taking the place of the retired Dare Devil Dive, ushering in a new era of excitement.
Of course, Six Flags Great America isn’t just about the latest attractions—it’s also home to classic coasters that never fail to deliver a rush. From the lightning-fast launch of MaxxForce to the towering drops of Raging Bull and the unforgettable wooden coaster, Goliath, there’s something here for every thrill-seeker.
As someone armed with a Six Flags Season Pass, I’m particularly excited for the 2024 season. The weekends-only schedule to start the season is the perfect opportunity to dive into the excitement before the park shifts into full gear with daily operations at the end of May.
So, mark your calendars and join me at Six Flags Great America this year—it’s going to be an adrenaline-fueled epic season of thrills!
