The National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives, home to the world’s largest collection of historic amusement ride vehicles and memorabilia, has successfully raised the funds to save and preserve four historic roller coaster cars from across North America—thanks to the support of ride enthusiasts from around the globe.

The vehicles saved from the scrapyard include:

Kingda Ka, retired from Six Flags Great Adventure, was once the tallest and second-fastest roller coaster on Earth.

Nighthawk, retired from Carowinds, was the world’s first flying roller coaster.

La Vibora, retired from Six Flags Over Texas, was the last “Swiss Bob” coaster in operation.

Time Warp, one of only a few “Volare” model coasters installed worldwide.

“The incredible outpouring of support from coaster enthusiasts around the world is both humbling and inspiring,” said Jeff Novotny, president of the NRCMA. “We very much look forward to rewarding their efforts by having them come out to see their contributions in action.”

Park fans and the general public are invited to view the newly preserved vehicles, along with many other historic coaster artifacts, at “Back to the Museum,” a preview event for roller coaster enthusiasts and park fans. Registration is now open at www.aceonline.org/events.

The NRCMA is an unaffiliated, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving historic roller coaster and amusement park artifacts. Its mission is to document, archive and maintain the rich history of the attractions industry for future generations. Learn more at www.rollercoastermuseum.org.
