Holiday World’s Good Gravy! Family Coaster has been crowned the Best New Theme Park Attraction for 2024 in the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Selected by a panel of experts and voted on by readers, this award celebrates the year’s standout theme park experiences.
The top ten finalists included Fire In The Hole at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, Penguin Trek at SeaWorld Orlando, Iron Menace at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania, The Dolly Parton Experience at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, The Bobcat at Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury, New York, Catapult Falls at SeaWorld San Antonio, Whispering Pines Haunted Hotel at Funtown Splashtown USA in Saco, Maine, SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride at Circus Circus Las Vegas, and Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio.
Good Gravy! is far from your average roller coaster. This family-friendly boomerang coaster by Vekoma takes riders on a thrilling 1,500-foot journey through Thanksgiving-themed scenery, complete with a top speed of 37 miles per hour and a 77-foot vertical spike. Guests zoom through a giant cranberry sauce can, dodge a 20-foot whisk and a 19-foot rolling pin, and then experience the excitement all over again in reverse.
The Thanksgiving immersion doesn’t end with the ride. Surrounding the attraction is the meticulously themed Stuffing Springs area, where Cincinnati-based 3dxScenic brought holiday-inspired sculptures and vibrant details to life. The artistry continues inside Grandma Gracie’s House, where the whimsical design invites guests into the heartwarming spirit of the season.
This latest recognition adds to Good Gravy!’s growing list of accolades. The coaster earned the Best Theme Concept award at Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Awards and was a finalist for Best Family Coaster (#2), Best New Coaster (#4), and Best New Attraction Installation (#5). Holiday World also garnered attention for its marketing campaign for Good Gravy!, which won an Indiana Tourism Award.
As excitement builds for the 2025 season, Holiday World invites families to secure their Season Passes now. Free Pre-K Passes are also available for children born between July 1, 2019, and October 26, 2021, ensuring even the youngest thrill-seekers can join in the fun.
