Carowinds’ Fury 325 roller coaster is celebrating its 10th anniversary this season, marking a decade of record-breaking thrills and industry recognition.
Since its debut in 2015, the towering steel coaster has become a landmark attraction, drawing thrill-seekers from around the world to Carowinds to experience its relentless speed and intensity.
Fury 325, standing at an imposing 325 feet tall, is the world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster with a traditional chain lift. The ride plunges passengers down an 81-degree drop at speeds reaching 95 mph, weaving through a dynamic course of high-speed curves, airtime hills, and overbanked turns. The ride’s signature moment, the “Hive Dive,” sends riders underneath a pedestrian bridge at the park’s entrance, reinforcing its hornet-inspired theme.
The coaster has consistently been recognized as one of the best in the world, earning its eighth consecutive Golden Ticket Award for Best Steel Coaster from Amusement Today in 2024. Spanning 6,602 feet of track and crossing both North and South Carolina state lines, Fury 325 remains North America’s longest steel coaster.
The ride was first announced on August 22, 2014, and underwent rapid construction before opening to the public on March 28, 2015. From its very first season, Fury 325 set a new standard for giga coasters—those with a height or drops between 300 and 399 feet—cementing Carowinds’ place among the premier amusement parks in the country and the Thrill Capital of the Southeast.
Fury 325 is not the only Carowinds attraction celebrating a milestone anniversary this year. Woodstock Express turns 50, Carolina Cyclone 45, Ripcord 30, Mountain Gliders and Peanuts Pirates 20, while Thunder Striker and Boo Blasters on Boo Hill reach 15 years, and Slingshot marks its 10th anniversary.
As Fury 325 enters its second decade, its reputation as a must-ride for coaster enthusiasts remains unshaken. Whether it’s a first-time rider or a seasoned thrill-seeker, Fury 325 delivers an unparalleled adrenaline rush that’s second to none in the steel roller coaster category.
