One of America’s oldest amusement parks is preparing for a major addition that could become one of the most family-friendly thrill rides in the region.

Waldameer & Water World in Erie, Pennsylvania, has announced Eagle’s Pursuit, a new family launch coaster scheduled to debut in 2027. Inspired by the power and grace of an eagle in flight, the attraction will take advantage of the park’s unique lakefront hillside setting to create a ride experience that combines speed, airtime, and sweeping terrain-driven maneuvers.

Unlike traditional coasters built on flat ground, Eagle’s Pursuit will be woven directly into Waldameer’s natural landscape. Riders will launch from the station before diving into the valley below, then experience a second launch that propels the train back uphill for a fast-paced finale filled with airtime moments and close-to-the-ground maneuvers.

The coaster is being designed to deliver the sensation of flying, featuring 16 unique track elements, 18 direction changes, and 10 floater airtime moments. The combination of launches, directional changes, and terrain interactions is expected to create a dynamic experience that continuously builds momentum throughout the ride.

“Eagle’s Pursuit captures everything guests love about Waldameer — family thrills, beautiful natural scenery, and unforgettable experiences,” said Steve Gorman, CEO of Waldameer & Water World. “From the moment riders launch out of the station and soar over the hillside, this coaster delivers the feeling of flying like a powerful eagle in pursuit.”

Perhaps the most notable feature of the new attraction is its accessibility. With a minimum height requirement of just 38 inches, Eagle’s Pursuit will be one of the most accessible launch coasters in the region, allowing younger riders and families to experience a major thrill attraction together.

The announcement continues Waldameer’s tradition of blending family entertainment with innovative attractions. The park is already home to the acclaimed Ravine Flyer II, a wooden roller coaster frequently ranked among the best in the world. Its dramatic terrain layout and signature bridge crossing over a public roadway have made it a destination attraction for coaster enthusiasts.

Located along the shores of Lake Erie, Waldameer & Water World offers more than 100 rides, slides, and attractions. The park is also known for its affordable family-friendly approach, including free parking and free admission to the amusement park, allowing guests to pay only for the rides they choose to enjoy.

Construction on Eagle’s Pursuit is already underway, with additional ride statistics, construction updates, and opening celebration details expected to be announced as the project progresses toward its 2027 debut.

For families planning future amusement park adventures, Eagle’s Pursuit promises to add a new reason to visit one of Pennsylvania’s most beloved and historic parks.
