For travelers planning a visit to the Great Smoky Mountains in 2027, Dollywood is making a strong case for adding Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, to their vacation plans.
The award-winning theme park has unveiled its 2027 operating calendar, featuring the return of popular festivals, new family experiences, expanded special events and a full season of its groundbreaking NightFlight Expedition attraction.
Dollywood, the reigning Golden Ticket Award winner for Best Theme Park Guest Experience in the world, will begin its 42nd season with a special preview day for season passholders on Wednesday, March 10. The park officially opens to the public Thursday, March 11.
What makes Dollywood particularly appealing as a travel destination is how dramatically the experience changes throughout the year. Spring brings colorful flowers and country music, summer delivers extended evenings filled with entertainment, fall transforms the park with thousands of pumpkins, and Christmas creates a winter wonderland illuminated by millions of lights.
For families who enjoy returning to the Smoky Mountains throughout the year, the 2027 calendar offers plenty of opportunities to experience something different with each visit.
Barbeque & Bluegrass Makes Its Return

One of the biggest announcements for 2027 is the return of Dollywood’s Barbeque & Bluegrass celebration, scheduled for Sept. 3-6 over Labor Day weekend.
The four-day event combines two traditions deeply connected to the Smoky Mountains: authentic bluegrass music and mouthwatering Southern barbeque.
Guests can enjoy live bluegrass performances throughout the park while sampling barbeque favorites and traditional side dishes.
For visitors who appreciate Dollywood’s connection to Appalachian culture, Barbeque & Bluegrass offers an experience that goes beyond roller coasters and thrill rides. It’s an opportunity to enjoy the music, food and traditions that make East Tennessee such a popular vacation destination.
NightFlight Expedition Takes Center Stage

Another major reason to visit Dollywood in 2027 is NightFlight Expedition, which will operate for its first full season following its August 2026 debut.
The innovative attraction takes guests on an immersive indoor adventure through the Smoky Mountains, combining elaborate storytelling, cutting-edge ride technology and unexpected thrills.
Riders soar above mountain landscapes, plunge through rushing rapids, climb rugged ridges and glide across glowing bioluminescent waters during an adventure unlike anything else at the park.
Having experienced NightFlight Expedition myself, I consider it Dollywood’s most impressive attraction. The attention to detail, immersive environments and seamless combination of storytelling and thrills make it a standout experience.
For travelers who haven’t visited Dollywood since the attraction opened, NightFlight Expedition alone provides a compelling reason to return in 2027.
Spring Brings Music, Flowers and a New Character

Dollywood’s season begins with the I Will Always Love You Music Festival, running March 11 through April 11.
The celebration honors Dolly Parton’s musical legacy, with the return of “From the Heart—The Life & Music of Dolly Parton” at Celebrity Theater.
Through Dolly’s own narration and an unforgettable collection of songs, the production tells the story of her journey from Sevier County to Nashville, where she pursued the dreams that would eventually make her one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world.
The show continues through the Flower & Food Festival, scheduled for May 7 through June 20.
During this spring celebration, more than one million blooms bring Dollywood to life, including spectacular Mosaiculture displays featuring larger-than-life floral sculptures.
The festival also features specialty foods inspired by the season, giving guests another opportunity to experience the creativity of Dollywood’s culinary team.
Adding to the entertainment is the Country Hitmakers concert series, scheduled for May 7 through June 13.
The series will feature celebrated country music artists, with the lineup to be announced later.
Families visiting Wildwood Grove will also discover a new character in 2027.
The Dream Maker and her Dream Wagon will introduce interactive storytelling experiences that encourage children to dream big, believe in themselves and help others achieve their dreams.
Inspired by Dolly Parton’s message of kindness and determination, the experience will give younger guests an opportunity to share their own dreams while learning the importance of supporting others.
Summer Nights Bring Drones, Fireworks and Family Entertainment

Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Summer Celebration returns June 26 through Aug. 8, bringing an entertainment-filled atmosphere to the park during one of the busiest vacation periods in the region.
The celebration features the return of Sweet Summer Nights, complete with a nightly dance party and a drone and fireworks show.
Three popular entertainment productions also return: “The Gazillion Bubble Show: Evolution,” “Moto-Motion Freestyle Showdown” and “Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience.”
Together, these productions offer everything from colorful bubble artistry and high-energy motorized stunts to entertaining performances featuring talented dogs.
For families spending several days in Pigeon Forge, the summer celebration provides plenty of reasons to stay at Dollywood into the evening rather than making it strictly a daytime visit.
Fall in the Smokies Gets Even More Exciting

Fall is one of the most beautiful times to visit the Smoky Mountains, and Dollywood’s Harvest Festival has become a destination within a destination.
Scheduled for Sept. 11 through Oct. 31, the festival features thousands of pumpkins, seasonal food, live entertainment and the award-winning Great Pumpkin LumiNights.
As darkness falls, elaborate illuminated pumpkin displays transform sections of the park into a colorful celebration of autumn.
One of the biggest changes for 2027 is the expansion of Harvey’s Boo Bash, a separately ticketed, family-friendly Halloween event that debuted in 2026.
The event expands to six nights: Oct. 1, 15, 22, 23, 29 and 30.
During Boo Bash, Dollywood remains open until midnight exclusively for event guests. Families can enjoy trick-or-treating, character encounters, shorter waits for select attractions and a lively dance party in Wildwood Grove.
Unlike traditional Halloween events built around haunted houses and frightening characters, Dollywood’s fall celebration focuses on colorful displays, playful entertainment and activities that families with younger children can enjoy together.
That approach makes the Harvest Festival especially appealing to travelers seeking a Halloween experience without the scares.
Christmas at Dollywood Adds a Sweet New Tradition

Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas, scheduled for Nov. 5, 2027, through Jan. 2, 2028, will once again transform the park into a holiday destination featuring six million twinkling lights.
The award-winning Christmas celebration includes festive entertainment, elaborate decorations and seasonal experiences throughout the park.
For 2027, families will discover an all-new experience called Mrs. Claus’ Cookies.
Following a visit with Santa at Santa’s List—Naughty or Nice, children can step inside Mrs. Claus’ festive kitchen and participate in an interactive cookie-making experience.
Young guests will have an opportunity to make their own cookies alongside Mrs. Claus and enjoy their handmade creations.
Also returning are Rudolph, Clarice and Bumble, giving families opportunities to meet characters from the beloved Christmas story.
In Wildwood Grove, “Wonderful Christmas!” returns with an illuminated storytelling experience centered around a towering Christmas tree.
The production follows Polar Bear and Black Bear as they reunite with their families to celebrate Christmas in the Great Smoky Mountains.
With its millions of lights, holiday music and festive atmosphere, Smoky Mountain Christmas remains one of Dollywood’s signature experiences and a major reason travelers plan winter visits to Pigeon Forge.
Run Dollywood Returns With Three Race Weekends

Travelers who enjoy combining fitness with a vacation will have three opportunities to participate in Run Dollywood events during 2027.
The spring event takes place April 23-25, followed by a fall event Sept. 24-26 and a Christmas event Nov. 12-14.
Each race weekend offers a different seasonal backdrop, from the beauty of spring in the Smokies to the colorful atmosphere of the Harvest Festival.
The Christmas event includes the 15th annual Light the Way 5K, benefiting Keep Sevier Beautiful and Dollywood’s Share It Forward employee assistance program.
Runners will travel through the park and surrounding area, with Dollywood’s six million Christmas lights providing a spectacular holiday setting.

Splash Country Extends the Summer Fun

A Dollywood vacation doesn’t have to be limited to the theme park.
Dollywood’s Splash Country begins its 27th season Saturday, May 15, with daily operations through Aug. 15, followed by weekends and select weekdays through Sept. 19.
The 35-acre water park offers an assortment of water slides, pools and family attractions surrounded by the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains.
Returning in 2027 is Neon Nights, a separately ticketed evening event featuring colorful lighting, a live DJ and unlimited access to select attractions.
Neon Nights takes place Fridays and Saturdays from June 25 through Aug. 14, operating from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
For travelers visiting Pigeon Forge during the summer, combining Dollywood and Splash Country can turn a single theme park visit into a multi-day vacation experience.
Why a Dollywood Season Pass Is Worth Considering

With so many festivals and special events spread throughout the year, a Dollywood season pass can be particularly appealing for travelers who plan to visit the Smoky Mountains more than once.
And this is where I believe Dollywood separates itself from many other amusement and theme park destinations.
Dollywood delivers a premium guest experience, and that goes beyond its attractions, entertainment and beautiful surroundings.
I’ve been a Dollywood season passholder for the past three years, and one thing that has consistently stood out during my visits is how the park makes me feel as a guest.
I’ve felt valued, not processed.
That distinction matters.
Whether it’s the friendliness of the employees, the quality of the entertainment, the attention to detail or the overall atmosphere, Dollywood has created an experience that makes me want to return.
A season pass is more than admission through the front gate. It’s an investment in experiences and memories, and Dollywood has consistently given me reasons to feel that investment has been worthwhile.
For 2027, Dollywood is offering four season pass levels: Diamond, Gold, Silver and the Summer Fun Pass.
Diamond Passes provide admission to both Dollywood and Splash Country, free general parking, four flexible Bring-A-Friend Free tickets, an all-season refill mug, a one-time preferred parking benefit and the park’s largest discounts on dining, shopping and lodging. Diamond Passes are limited in quantity.
Gold Passes are available in one-park and two-park options, with benefits that include free general parking, an all-season refill mug, discounts and Bring-A-Friend opportunities.
Both Gold and Diamond passholders also receive complimentary TimeSaver access during the first hour of each operating day, allowing expedited access to popular attractions, including NightFlight Expedition and Big Bear Mountain.
Silver Passes offer a lower-cost alternative, with discounts and reduced-price Bring-A-Friend tickets. Adult and senior Silver Passes have select blackout dates, while child Silver Passes do not.
The Summer Fun Pass provides unlimited visits from April 19 through Sept. 10.
Families with younger children should also take note of the Pre-K Imagination Season Pass, which offers free season-long admission for children born in 2022 or 2023.
Renewals are available now for current 2026 passholders, while passes go on sale to the general public Monday, Nov. 2.
Another attractive benefit is that guests purchasing a 2027 season pass can begin visiting during the 2026 Smoky Mountain Christmas celebration, giving them a head start on enjoying the park before the new season officially begins.
Turn a Dollywood Visit Into a Smoky Mountains Vacation

For travelers planning an extended stay, Dollywood offers two resort properties: DreamMore Resort and Spa and HeartSong Lodge & Resort.
Both feature family-friendly accommodations and guest privileges, including complimentary TimeSaver benefits, transportation to the parks, preferred parking and package delivery for purchases made inside Dollywood.
The resort properties also provide convenient access to the many attractions, restaurants, shops and outdoor experiences found throughout Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the surrounding Smoky Mountains.
Visitors can spend one day enjoying Dollywood’s rides and shows, another exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park and additional time discovering the area’s restaurants, entertainment and family attractions.
It’s that combination of experiences that makes the region attractive for everything from weekend getaways to weeklong family vacations.
More Than Just a Theme Park Experience

Dollywood has built its reputation on more than world-class attractions and award-winning entertainment. It’s the attention to detail, the hospitality and the feeling guests take home with them that make the experience memorable.
With new additions, returning traditions and a calendar filled with reasons to visit, Dollywood’s 2027 season offers travelers another opportunity to discover what makes this Smoky Mountain destination special.
