If Mount Rushmore were carved not with presidents, but with roller coasters, which four rides would earn a spot in stone?
That’s the question lighting up conversations among theme-park fans right now on my Facebook page — and it’s harder to answer than it looks.
Is it about speed? Height? Nostalgia? Innovation? Or the way a ride made you feel the very first time you climbed that lift hill or launched out of the station?
Just like the towering faces on South Dakota’s Mount Rushmore represent leadership and impact, a Roller Coaster Mount Rushmore represents the most legendary rides of all time — the ones that defined an era, pushed boundaries, and became icons far beyond their parks.
Some fans are drawn to classic wooden coasters that have stood the test of time, delivering decades of airtime and memories. Others lean toward record-breakers: coasters that once held (or still hold) titles for height, speed, or sheer wow factor. And then there are the newer generation thrills with groundbreaking launches, inverted twists, and immersive storytelling coasters that feel more like adventures than rides.

What makes this question, so fun is that there’s no wrong answer.
Your list might be powered by nostalgia — the very first coaster you ever rode, the one you conquered as a kid, or the one you always rode with family and friends. Or maybe your Mount Rushmore is strictly about engineering and innovation — the four rides that changed the industry forever.
Either way, it opens the door to memories, debates, and stories worth sharing.
So now it’s your turn.
If you had to choose only four roller coasters for your personal Mount Rushmore, which ones would make the cut?
Leave a comment with your list and feel free to share why each one earned its spot.
