Kentucky Kingdom Theme and Water Park is turning the page to an exciting new chapter, and if you haven’t visited in a while, you might not recognize what’s happening.
The Louisville-based theme park is set to debut Discovery Meadow, a brand-new $11 million family-friendly land, on May 10. It’s the first phase of a $25 million investment spanning the next two seasons—a clear signal that this isn’t the Kentucky Kingdom of old.
Spanning six acres, Discovery Meadow brings fresh energy with three new rides, 24 new and re-themed experiences, and its own mascot, Scout the Squirrel. The Redbird Racer—a swinging family ride inspired by Kentucky’s state bird—the Cumberland Express garden train adventure, and Scout’s Squirrel Race, where riders join a playful chase for a giant acorn, lead the lineup of new attractions.

But it’s more than just rides. The expansion includes a 4,800-square-foot shaded playground, revamped eateries, additional seating and shade, a Kentucky-themed Games Garden, and new retail experiences.
With its immersive theming and interactive elements, Discovery Meadow carries a strong Herschend Family Entertainment and Dollywood vibe—a level of storytelling and charm that’s a significant step forward for the park.

As a Season Passholder, I’ll get a first look at Discovery Meadow on May 9, ahead of its grand opening. And the momentum won’t stop there—Kentucky Kingdom has already confirmed another $14 million in improvements for 2026.
For longtime fans, it’s clear: Kentucky Kingdom is evolving. The days of stop-and-start growth are gone. With this latest investment, the park is making a statement—bigger, bolder, and more family-friendly than ever before.
