For my family and me, Thanksgiving marks the start of a beloved tradition—spending time together in a cozy cabin nestled in the Smoky Mountains and heading to Dollywood for Smoky Mountain Christmas. It’s a holiday experience that never fails to dazzle, no matter how many times we return.
Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas, presented by Humana, runs from now to Jan. 5, 2025, and promises to enchant guests with 6 million sparkling lights, exceptional stage productions, festive food, and thrilling rides. It’s no wonder the Golden Ticket Awards named it a “legend” after 15 consecutive wins for Best Christmas Event.
One of the newest and most magical features is Snow in the Grove. As night falls, Wildwood Grove transforms into a snowy wonderland, where snowflakes dance through the air and the iconic Wildwood Tree glows in spectacular holiday colors. My family and I can’t wait to experience the joy of the season as we walk through this winter dreamscape, joined by Dollywood’s playful Christmas characters, Roly and Poly.
New for this year, the Christmas Reflections light installation in Rivertown will add an extra touch of beauty. As the sun sets, the Rivertown pond becomes a canvas for the glowing reflections of five ornately decorated trees. These lights will join the park’s already impressive lineup, which includes Glacier Ridge in Timber Canyon and Wilderness Pass—a vibrant display of colors that never ceases to amaze.

Dollywood’s entertainment shines just as brightly. I always make sure to catch the signature show “Christmas in the Smokies,” which has captivated guests since 1990. This year brings a special new performance, “Heidi Parton’s A Christmas To Remember,” where Dolly’s niece shares songs and stories inspired by their family’s holiday traditions. It’s these heartwarming moments that define the spirit of Christmas at Dollywood.
The holiday culinary offerings are just as delightful. From rosemary garlic white pizza to red velvet whoopie pies, the menu brims with festive flavors. For our family, sharing a meal at Dollywood is part of the magic—we always look forward to discovering new treats alongside our favorites.
Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas wouldn’t be complete without Santa. A visit to Santa’s cabin, where he’s checking his naughty and nice list, is an experience that brings out the wonder in kids and adults alike.

Even the thrill rides, like Lightning Rod and Wild Eagle, become holiday highlights as you soar over the glowing park below. It’s a truly unique experience to ride a world-class coaster surrounded by the twinkling splendor of Christmas lights. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the Dollywood Express. It’s a must-ride every visit!
The holiday magic extends to Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa and the newly opened HeartSong Lodge & Resort. Both properties are decked out in festive décor, and their dining experiences make the holiday season even more special.
At DreamMore Resort, you’re greeted by a magnificent two-story Christmas tree, and the pool deck comes alive with the Christmas Tree Show. Meanwhile, HeartSong Lodge will celebrate its first anniversary in style, offering cozy fireside moments and delicious holiday dinners.
As our family continues this cherished tradition, I can’t help but marvel at the joy Dollywood brings year after year. Whether it’s the lights, the shows, the rides, or the unforgettable atmosphere, Smoky Mountain Christmas is a gift that never stops giving.

And if you’re looking for the perfect holiday present, a Dollywood Season Pass is a gift your family will cherish throughout the year, especially with 2025 marking Dollywood’s 40th-anniversary season.
Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas has become a part of our family’s story, and I hope it brings as much holiday cheer to yours as it has to ours.
