Kings Island’s iconic Racer roller coaster will be part of the WinterFest lineup for 2024, marking the first time this historic ride will operate during the park’s holiday celebration. The beloved attraction joins an expanded selection of rides for WinterFest, which will also feature Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers.

The Racer, which opened in 1972, is credited with kickstarting the roller coaster renaissance of the 1970s. Designed by legendary coaster engineer John C. Allen, the wooden racing coaster has remained a staple at Kings Island for over five decades, thrilling riders with its side-by-side competition and classic airtime hills. Now, fans will have the unique opportunity to experience The Racer as the park transforms into a holiday wonderland, complete with millions of lights, festive décor, and seasonal entertainment.

The Racer’s inclusion comes as Kentucky Kingdom, located just 127 miles away from Kings Island in Louisville, introduces its first holiday event, Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom. This sets the stage for increased regional competition in the holiday market, prompting Kings Island to expand its WinterFest offerings and maintain its status as a premier holiday destination in the Greater Cincinnati area. The park’s goal is to deliver unforgettable experiences for both thrill-seekers and holiday enthusiasts.

When I learned The Racer would be part of WinterFest, I was beyond excited. As one of Kings Island’s most enduring and beloved rides, its addition feels like a perfect fit for the festivities. It’s sure to add to the magic of the holiday season for coaster fans and families alike.

Kings Island’s 2024 WinterFest promises to combine classic holiday cheer with the thrill of one of its most historic roller coasters, creating memories that will last long after the season ends.

WinterFest runs on select nights Nov. 29 through Dec. 31. Visit Kings Island’s official website for operating days and hours.

It’s great to hear this news for Kings Island. I remember all the B@Ms running at Great America along with V2.
Hoping The new Six Flags brings Winterfest to Great America.

How wonderful would it be for Great America and Kings Island doing Christmas again. The parks are 5 hours apart going to both would be amazing.
