As temperatures climb across the Smoky Mountains, one of Tennessee’s most popular water parks is combining summer fun with an important safety message.
Dollywood’s Splash Country will host its annual Water Safety Day presented by Blue Lizard Sunscreen on June 25, giving families the opportunity to enjoy a day at the park while learning life-saving water safety skills.
Now in its 16th year, the event brings together guests from across East Tennessee to promote water safety awareness through the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, a global initiative designed to help children and families build confidence in and around the water.
The highlight of the day takes place at 10 a.m. at Mountain Waves wave pool, where participants will join thousands of people around the world taking part in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson. Registration and check-in begin at 9 a.m., and guests must redeem their event ticket before 10 a.m. to gain entry to the lesson.
As an added incentive, participants in the swim lesson will receive complimentary admission to Splash Country on June 25. The free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis through advance online registration, while season passholders may attend the lesson without obtaining an event ticket. Participants also will receive a thank-you gift at check-in.
Last season, Splash Country recorded the second-highest participation total of any water park in the world for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, underscoring the park’s commitment to water safety education. Park officials hope to welcome even more families this year.
Water safety remains a key focus for Splash Country, which has earned a reputation for its highly trained lifeguard team and family-friendly atmosphere. While guests spend the day floating lazy rivers, splashing through wave pools, and enjoying water attractions, park officials say a strong culture of safety remains at the heart of the experience.
Located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Splash Country is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most scenic water parks. The 35-acre attraction is part of the larger Dollywood family of destinations, which also includes Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa and Dollywood’s HeartSong Lodge & Resort.
For families planning a Smoky Mountain getaway this summer, Water Safety Day offers a rare opportunity to enjoy a free day at one of the country’s top-rated water parks while learning skills that can help make every future day in the water a safer one.
