A new family thrill attraction is planned for Kings Island in 2026, but what exactly that means is still under wraps. 

Parent company Six Flags has announced a $1 billion investment across its 42 parks over the next two years, including new rides, themed areas, and dining enhancements. Among the updates, Kings Island is set to receive a family-friendly addition, sparking speculation about what might be on the horizon.

One possibility gaining attention is a Family Thrill Launch Coaster from Zamperla Rides. Recent survey work in the area formerly home to the Vortex roller coaster aligns with the layout of this innovative ride model. 

Standing 103 feet tall with 2,198 feet of track (and 3,294 feet of traveled distance thanks to its unique dual-launch system), the coaster could reach speeds of 47 mph.

What makes this attraction especially intriguing is its accessibility. With a minimum height requirement of 42 inches, it’s a ride designed to appeal to families while still offering enough excitement for coaster enthusiasts. 

Though the coaster’s hourly capacity is relatively modest at 680 riders, if this Zamperla model is indeed what Kings Island has planned, its broad appeal could make it a welcome addition to the park’s lineup as a family thrill attraction.

While no official confirmation has been made, the possibility of such a ride highlights Kings Island’s ongoing focus on attractions that bring families together while enhancing the park’s reputation for innovative experiences. 

Time will tell if this becomes reality, but all signs suggest that the next chapter for Kings Island will be worth the wait for families.
