As Wild Adventures Theme Park wrapped up its 2025 season, it didn’t just close the gates on another year of rides and holiday lights—it opened the door to something bigger: a massive Toys for Tots donation that topped $12,000 worth of children’s toys, one of the largest totals the Valdosta, Georgia park has ever raised for the annual drive.
The toy collection happened during Christmas Wild & Bright in November and December, when guests were invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more. In return, they could purchase a single-day admission ticket for $19.99—a simple swap that turned a night at the park into a direct act of holiday giving.
And for families, that kind of “do something fun while doing something good” moment is the stuff that sticks.
A holiday tradition with real impact
Toys for Tots—best known for its mission to help deliver the joy of Christmas and a message of hope to children facing economic hardship—relies heavily on local partnerships and community drives to fill donation bins each year. Wild Adventures’ drive helped fuel a broader effort that, during the 2025 Christmas season, served more than 5,000 local children through partnerships with organizations across the region.
Those partners included the American Red Cross, Valdosta Police and Fire Department, Echols County Family Connections, Lowndes County and Valdosta City Schools, The Pines, Department of Family & Children Services, Hope in Action, and multiple churches and nonprofits.
For the park, the results were a reminder that holiday crowds can mean more than packed midways and full parking lots.
“We want to thank our guests for their generosity this holiday season,” said Donald Spiller, vice president and general manager of Wild Adventures. “This was one of the largest donation turnouts we have ever had, and it will surely provide an immeasurable amount of joy to children across our region.”
Why toy drives work so well at places like theme parks
There’s something about a theme park—especially during the holidays—that naturally encourages generosity. People are already in a celebratory mindset. They’re looking for traditions. They want a reason to make the outing feel meaningful, not just entertaining.
Toy drives also offer a straightforward way for kids to participate in giving. For parents, it’s a teachable moment that doesn’t require a big speech. You buy a toy, your child carries it in, and you talk about who it might help. The lesson lands because it’s concrete.
And in this case, it came with a practical bonus: an affordable ticket option that lowered the barrier for families who might otherwise skip a theme park visit during the expensive holiday stretch.
“Year-round” giving, not just seasonal
While Toys for Tots is often associated with December, the campaign in Valdosta also has a year-round program designed to help families beyond the holiday window—a point emphasized by Jenny Jolly, coordinator for Valdosta Toys for Tots.
“It is due to toy drives like the one at Wild Adventures that make our campaign such a success,” Jolly said. “Through these efforts, we can continue serving throughout the 2026 year-round program to aid in assisting families in despair through collaboration with community partners. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication to serving our community.”
That year-round component matters, because need doesn’t end when the decorations come down. Drives like this don’t just fill shelves—they help local organizations plan, coordinate, and respond when families fall on hard times.
What’s next for Wild Adventures in 2026

The toy drive may have closed out Wild Adventures’ 2025 calendar, but the park is already looking forward. Wild Adventures is scheduled to reopen March 14, kicking off a season that marks its 30th anniversary.
2026 Season Passes are on sale now and include unlimited admission to Wild Adventures Theme Park, Splash Island Waterpark, and every show in the Wild Adventures LIVE! concert series, along with other offerings.
Located in Valdosta, Georgia, roughly halfway between Atlanta and Orlandojust off I-75, Wild Adventures is a 170-acre destination that combines theme park rides, animal encounters, concerts, seasonal events, and a waterpark in one place. The park is part of Herschend Family Entertainment and features more than 35 rides, “hundreds” of exotic animals, and a robust events calendar.
It also includes the Wild Adventures Safari Campground, rated 10/10★/10 by Good Sam, and the park has collected a list of superlatives from travel outlets—recognized as one of the Most Affordable Theme Parks in Americaby Travel + Leisure and named the Most Thrilling Theme Park in Georgia by FinanceBuzz, while Splash Island has been ranked among the “Top 30 Waterparks” by U.S. News & World Report.
The bigger takeaway
It’s easy to dismiss holiday charity drives as feel-good PR. But the numbers—and the partners—tell a different story. Collecting more than $12,000 in toys doesn’t happen without broad community buy-in, and serving more than 5,000 children takes coordination well beyond one weekend of donations.
In other words: this wasn’t a symbolic gesture. It was a meaningful pipeline of support, fueled by families who decided that their holiday outing could also help someone else’s holiday feel a little more like Christmas.
