Visiting amusement parks like Cedar Point and Kings Island can be a thrilling experience, but it can also be expensive.

From tickets to food, costs can add up quickly. However, with a bit of planning and some smart choices, you can enjoy all the fun and thrills these Ohio amusement parks have to offer without breaking the bank.

Here are six money-saving tips to save money during your visit.

Buy Tickets Online in Advance

Purchasing tickets online or the park’s mobile apps ahead of time is one of the simplest ways to save money. Both Cedar Point and Kings Island offer discounts for tickets bought in advance through their official websites and mobile apps.

Sometimes, you can find special promotions or bundle deals that include parking or dining options at a reduced rate. Avoid buying tickets at the gate, where prices are higher.

Take Advantage of Season Passes

If you plan on visiting more than once in a season, a season pass can be a great investment. Season passes offer unlimited visits, free parking, and discounts on food, drinks, and merchandise. Additionally, passholders often get early access to the park and exclusive event invitations.

Calculate your anticipated number of visits and compare the cost of a season pass to daily tickets to see if this option works for you.

Maximize Your Fun with the Two-Day Ticket

At both Cedar Point and Kings Island, there’s so much to see and do that it’s impossible to experience it all in one day. This makes the Two-Day Ticket a tremendous value. Enjoy two visits on any day the park is open to the public through Labor Day for one low price! Plus, your visits don’t need to be on consecutive days, giving you the flexibility to plan your perfect park experience.

Utilize After 4 p.m. Ticket as a Money-Saving Option

Don’t have time for a full day at Cedar Point or Kings Island? Consider arriving at Cedar Point after 4 p.m. to take advantage of this ticket option. This can significantly reduce the overall expense of your trip, and you can still do a lot at either park in six hours.

Maximize Dining Plans and Souvenir Cups

If you prefer to eat inside the park—and you should, given the culinary experience at Cedar Point and Kings Island is as memorable as the rides—consider investing in a dining plan. Both Cedar Point and Kings Island offer dining plans that provide multiple meals throughout the day at a fixed price. This can be a cost-effective way to enjoy park food without overspending.

Additionally, purchasing a souvenir cup with free or discounted refills can keep you hydrated without the high cost of individual drinks.

Look for Group Discounts and Special Offers

Keep an eye out for group discounts, special promotions, and online coupon codes. Both parks offer discounted rates for groups, which can be ideal if you’re visiting with a large family or a group of friends. Check the parks’ websites and social media pages for the latest deals.

Occasionally, local businesses and hotels also offer discount vouchers for park admission.

Final Thoughts

A day at Cedar Point or Kings Island doesn’t have to be a financial strain. By planning ahead and taking advantage of these money-saving tips, you can enjoy all the excitement and entertainment these parks offer without breaking the bank.

So, pack your bags, gather your friends and family, and get ready for a budget-friendly adventure at two of America’s favorite amusement parks.

I live 15 minutes from kings Island and have getting out of there cheap down pat but we do a few cedar point trips a year and I can’t seem to get out of there under 2k per visit. Now granted we stay on site at breakers and I spring for fast lanes so i get it. Got to pay to play.
