When I heard Kings Island was debuting a new show called “Country Crossroads” this year, I knew I had to check it out. As a long-time fan of the park, I’ve always appreciated the live entertainment it offers, but this show? This one’s something special. Let me tell you why Country Crossroads in the Festhaus is an absolute can’t-miss experience.

First off, the energy of this 25-minute performance is off the charts. With a live band setting the stage, the atmosphere is electric from the moment the show begins. The eight talented singers—four male and four female—bring an infectious enthusiasm that has the audience engaged from start to finish.

The show features a well-curated selection of popular country hits spanning from yesteryear to today. It’s a fantastic blend of nostalgia and contemporary favorites, creating a perfect balance that appeals to all generations. I was transported back to my early days as a Kings Island season passholder, reminded of the incredible country shows I enjoyed at the International Showplace from 1982 to 1986. Those shows added so much value to my visits, and I can confidently say Country Crossroads does the same.

The song lineup is a country music fan’s dream. Classics like Dolly Parton’s “Take Me Back to the Country” and Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy” blend seamlessly with newer hits like Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman” and Shania Twain’s “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.” Each number is performed with such passion and precision that it’s hard not to sing along.

Other favorites include Barbara Mandrell’s “Sleeping Single in a Double Bed,” Tanya Tucker’s “Delta Dawn,” and The Oak Ridge Boys’ “Elvira”. Jerry Reed’s “East Bound and Down” brings a playful, fast-paced vibe to the show, while Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton’s “Islands in the Stream” provided a beautiful duet moment.

A standout for me is the rendition of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” by the Charlie Daniels Band. The fiddle player’s performance is nothing short of spectacular, showcasing her immense talent and leaving the audience in awe. Another highlight was “Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks, which creates a fun, communal feel.

Adding to the diverse lineup, the show also features Faith Hill’s “This Kiss,” Brooks & Dunn’s “My Maria,” and Reba McEntire’s “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.” Billy Ray Cyrus’s “Achy Breaky Heart” brings some 90s nostalgia, while Jo Dee Messina’s “Heads Carolina, Tails California” and Martina McBride’s “Independence Day” add a touch of empowerment and fun.

The show is superbly written and cast. Every performer on stage brings their A-game, and their chemistry is palpable. It’s clear a lot of thought went into crafting a show that not only entertains but also resonates deeply with the audience.

Country Crossroads is one of the best country shows I’ve ever seen at Kings Island, which is saying a lot given the park’s rich history dating back to 1972. This show is not just entertainment—it’s an experience that enriches your visit and leaves you with lasting memories. The only thing I wish is that it were in the International Showplace instead of the Festhaus, to truly capture the nostalgic essence of those early years.

For those planning a visit, the show runs until August 11, so make sure to catch it before it ends. Check the Kings Island mobile app for iPhone and Android for show times and plan your day accordingly. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this high-energy celebration of country music.

Whether you’re a long-time fan of the park like me or a first-time visitor, Country Crossroads is a highlight of the Kings Island experience this year. Grab a seat in the Festhaus, let the music take you on a journey, and enjoy every moment of this outstanding show.
