Back in 2014, something interesting showed up at Kings Island: a giant yellow macaroni noodle, right in front of the Eiffel Tower on International Street.
It was massive — 20 feet long, 9 feet tall, and over 2,000 pounds — with Kraft Macaroni & Cheese’s famous slogan “You know you love it” written across the side. And honestly? I loved it the minute I heard it was coming.
At the time, I was running the PR for Kings Island, and I knew this Big Noodle could be a goldmine if played right. It wasn’t just a sculpture — it was a story. So I took the ball (or the noodle, in this case) and ran with it.
I pitched it to TV stations, radio shows, newspapers, blogs, fan sites — anyone who would listen. Before long, Cincinnati and Dayton news crews were out at the park doing live shots and features, families were lining up for pictures, and social media was flooded with photos of people posing with, or laughing next to a giant piece of macaroni.
It was fun. It was weird. It was exactly the kind of thing people love to talk about — and exactly the kind of PR win you dream about.
Sure, Kraft’s products have always had their fans and their critics, but in that moment, none of that mattered. Kids loved it. Parents loved it. People still bring it up today when they talk about their favorite Kings Island memories.
For me, the Big Noodle is a reminder that sometimes the simplest, silliest ideas can become the biggest successes — if you know how to make some noise and get people smiling.
And really… you know you love it!
