Kings Island is calling on its guests to help make a difference in the community this summer. The Mason, Ohio amusement park has partnered with Crayons to Computers for its annual Push 4 Pencils school supply drive, an effort to help bridge the educational gap for thousands of local students.
The initiative comes at a critical time for Greater Cincinnati, where nearly 25 percent of residents live below the poverty line — nearly double the national average of 12.6 percent. For many families, the rising cost of school supplies has made preparing for the new school year an overwhelming burden.
Push 4 Pencils aims to equip more than 120,000 students across the region with the essential tools they need to succeed in the classroom.
Kings Island guests can support the effort by donating new school supplies at a designated drop-off area located near the park’s front entrance. Every pencil, crayon and notebook donated empowers a child’s future.
Teachers across the region have identified nine items they need most in their classrooms this school year, including colored pencils, composition books, 24-count crayons, filler paper, highlighters, index cards, markers — both washable and dry erase — mechanical pencils, and 1-subject notebooks. Crayons to Computers encourages donors to select Crayola-brand products when possible, as they are preferred by educators.
The supply drive runs July 14 to August 10. Kings Island hopes its guests will help “erase the need” and ensure students across Cincinnati head back to school with confidence and the supplies they deserve.
