This morning, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the grand opening of The Dolly Parton Experience at Dollywood, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of spectacular. As a fan of Dolly Parton and a big fan of Dollywood, I was thrilled to be part of this special media event, and it exceeded all my expectations, which were high.
From the moment I walked into the park, there was an electrifying buzz in the air. Thousands of Dollywood guests, just as eager as I was, gathered after the park opened to experience this new, multi-faceted attraction. The excitement was palpable as guests made their way to the newly transformed area.

Dolly Parton herself was on hand for the opening of The Dolly Parton Experience, a museum dedicated to her illustrious career and personal life. Watching Dolly, ever the vibrant and upbeat star, get emotional was incredibly moving. “They started showing all the footage, especially when my mom and dad and my family started talking, I just broke down,” she said at the opening. It was a poignant reminder of the depth of her journey and the importance of her roots.
The Dolly Parton Experience is a treasure trove of music, dazzling dresses, iconic wigs, and most importantly, cherished memories. Spread across multiple buildings in the former Adventures in Imagination area, the museum is three times larger than its predecessor, the Chasing Rainbows Museum, and is brimming with interactive and digital exhibits.
Dolly joked about the extensive makeover, saying, “Our old museum really needed a facelift, but instead of a nip-and-tuck we just decided to start all over! There are a lot of interactive elements and technology all through the area, but luckily for all of you, there are no holograms of me in there anywhere.”
One of the most touching sections is the “Precious Memories” area, dedicated to Dolly’s family and their unwavering support throughout her life. Seeing the heartfelt displays and hearing stories about her family made me appreciate even more the humble beginnings and strong family ties that have shaped Dolly into the beloved icon she is today.

The Experience offers an immersive journey through Dolly’s life, from her early days in Locust Ridge to her rise as an international superstar. “Songteller” showcases her musical roots and philanthropic efforts, with a live counter tracking the millions of books distributed by her Imagination Library program. “Behind the Seams” gives insight into Dolly’s iconic fashion, with wardrobes preserved using Smithsonian-level techniques.
A highlight is the new show, “Heidi Parton’s Kin & Friends,” at the Dreamsong Theater. Written by Dolly and her niece Heidi, it featured family stories and songs that only insiders would know. Dolly even made a surprise appearance, adding an extra layer of magic to the performance.
The Dolly Parton Experience also includes a tour of Dolly’s former motor coach, her Home-on-Wheels, which has been a fixture at the park for years. It’s a fascinating glimpse into her life on the road and a testament to her relentless work ethic and passion for her fans.
To top off the visit, the Dolly’s Fan Shop offers unique memorabilia, from apparel to keepsakes, ensuring that everyone can take a piece of this enchanting experience home with them.

After soaking in all the wonders of The Dolly Parton Experience, I wandered through Dollywood’s Flower & Food Festival, which runs until June 9. The festival, now in its fifth year, transforms the park into a stunning display of over a million blooms and delectable spring-inspired dishes. It’s a feast for the senses and a delightful way to continue celebrating the magic of Dollywood.
This entire experience was truly unforgettable. The Dolly Parton Experience is not just a museum; it’s a heartfelt tribute to Dolly’s legacy, her family, and the joy she has brought to millions. It’s an experience that will stay with me forever, and I highly recommend everyone to visit and share in the wonder that is Dolly Parton.
