Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari’s Mammoth water coaster was named the Best Water Park Ride in the World this weekend at the Golden Ticket Awards, presented by Amusement Today at Carowinds Amusement Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mammoth reclaimed the top honor after previously winning in 2023, while its sister ride, Wildebeest, had dominated the category every other year since its debut in 2010. Attractions at Splashin’ Safari have now held the title for 15 consecutive years, further cementing the park’s reputation as the “Water Coaster Capital of the World.”
“There’s a reason we’re known as the Water Coaster Capital of the World,” said Matt Eckert, Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari president and CEO. “Whether the big winner is Mammoth or Wildebeest, the important thing is that our guests win when they choose to visit Holiday World. From the best attractions in the world to the best value with free soft drinks, parking and sunscreen, visiting Holiday World is an easy choice for families.”
Mammoth, a 1,763-foot-long LIM-powered water coaster that spans three acres, features six-person circular boats, seven drops, six uphill launches and spinning motion, much of it in near-total darkness, delivering an unpredictable and high-thrill ride experience.
Wildebeest finished second in the Best Water Park Attraction category, and The Voyage earned the No. 2 spot among the Best Wooden Roller Coasters. Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari were named the No. 3 Best Guest Experience in the world, and Splashin’ Safari ranked No. 3 among the best water parks.
Splashin’ Safari’s last day of operation is September 13, with both parks closed to the public on September 14. Friday Night Live! continues every Friday evening through October 24, and Happy Halloween Weekends begin September 20 with a new Dino Corn Maze Adventure and a “Dinos Soar in the Sky” drone show. The event is also in the running for USA Today’s 10Best Awards for Best Theme Park Halloween Event, and fans are encouraged to vote daily.
