With summer temperatures soaring across East Tennessee, Dollywood’s Splash Country is encouraging guests to beat the heat safely by promoting water responsibility during its 15th annual Water Safety Day on Thursday, June 26.

The event, a tradition at the Smoky Mountains water park, brings together families and local organizations to raise awareness about water safety while celebrating the joys of summer.

“It can be so easy to get excited and get straight into the water without thinking about safety,” said Lauren Lowery, senior operations manager at Dollywood’s Splash Country. “We want to be able to use our facilities to spread awareness on how to best prepare families for a day by the water. Water Safety Day allows us to reach out to our community and have fun, but also it gives us the opportunity to have a conversation with our guests about water preparedness.”

The day kicks off at 10 a.m. with the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson at the Mountain Waves wave pool. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and includes a free, 30-minute swim lesson taught by instructors from the Knoxville Racquet Club. The global initiative unites thousands of children and families at pools and water parks around the world with the shared goal of preventing drowning through basic swim education.

Dollywood’s Splash Country had the second-highest number of participants worldwide in last year’s event.

To encourage participation, guests who register for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson will receive complimentary admission to Dollywood’s Splash Country on June 26. Tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis at Dollywood.com/WaterSafetyDay. Season passholders do not need an event ticket to attend the swim lesson. All lesson participants will receive a thank-you gift at check-in.
