Thrill-seekers, prepare yourselves for what promises to be one of the most exhilarating rides of 2025—Six Flags Great America is unleashing the Wrath of Rakshasa, and I couldn’t be more excited. As a seasoned coaster enthusiast, I’ve seen my fair share of thrilling attractions, but this one has me counting down the days.

What makes Wrath of Rakshasa so special? For starters, it’s not going to be just another roller coaster—it’s a dive coaster, and if you’ve never experienced one of these, you’re in for a treat. This ride isn’t just breaking records; it’s redefining them. We’re talking about the world’s steepest drop on a dive coaster, a jaw-dropping 96-degree plummet that sends riders plummeting 171 feet straight down. And that’s just the beginning.

Wrath of Rakshasa will stand at a towering 180 feet tall, and with 3,239 feet of track, it’s a sprawling beast that will twist and turn through five inversions—the most ever on a dive coaster. Imagine being flipped upside down, spun around, and thrown into high-speed maneuvers at nearly 67 mph. It’s going to be an adrenaline rush like no other.

But the thrill doesn’t end there. The coaster features a dramatic pause at the top of the drop—a cliffhanger hold—where you’ll be suspended in mid-air, staring straight down, waiting for that heart-stopping moment when the floor drops out from under you. This moment of anticipation, followed by the sheer terror of the drop, is what makes dive coasters so uniquely thrilling.

Located in the County Fair section, right across from the iconic Demon, Wrath of Rakshasa isn’t just another addition to the park; it’s a game-changer. This ride is designed by the masterminds at Bolliger & Mabillard, the same folks who brought us Raging Bull and X-Flight, so you know you’re in for something truly special.

Now, here’s where I get personal: Six Flags Great America isn’t my home park, but it’s rides like Wrath of Rakshasa that make me glad I added the All Park Passport to my Kings Island Gold season pass. If you’re like me and your coaster bucket list is constantly growing, the All Park Passport is a no-brainer. It gives you the freedom to chase thrills across all Six Flags parks in 2025, and trust me, you won’t want to miss out on this one.

Wrath of Rakshasa is set to redefine what it means to be a thrill ride, and I can’t wait to be among those to experience it next year. Whether you’re a local in Chicago or planning a special trip, this coaster is worth every bit of anticipation.

Make sure your 2025 amusement and theme park plans include a visit to Six Flags Great America—you won’t regret it.
