As the leaves begin to fall and a chill creeps into the air, Cedar Point, the beloved amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, undergoes a remarkable transformation. Every year, it becomes a realm of Halloween enchantment, offering visitors a unique blend of family-friendly activities by day and spine-tingling frights by night. HalloWeekends, now in its 26th year, is back to thrill and chill guests on select days and nights until Oct. 29.
HalloWeekends is my favorite time of the year to visit America’s Rollercoast. The park is decorated with spectacular Halloween-themed decor with spellbinding entertainment and new experiences for all who dare to enter. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the annual event also features some of the best roller coasters in the world like Millennium Force, Steel Vengeance and Maverick, along with an abundance of family rides.

Daytime Delights for the Whole Family
By day, Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends is a haven for families seeking classic fall activities. The park features corn and hay mazes, pint-sized tractors for the little ones, pumpkin decorating, games, and of course, trick-or-treating. It’s a wonderful opportunity for kids and parents alike to create cherished memories in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere.
When the Sun Sets, Darkness Descends
But when night falls, the park takes a darker turn. Five haunted mazes, including newcomers like “Mr. Midnight’s Book of the Dark,” will send shivers down the bravest visitors’ spines. Mr. Midnight himself invites guests to explore the eerie corridors of his malevolent mind, immersing them in the fears and horrors that dwell within his “Book of the Dark.”

Outdoor Thrills Await
For those seeking outdoor thrills, the “Clownz: Death Metal Tour” scare zone is a must-visit. On the Gemini Midway, you’ll encounter the “Butchers of Rock” band, stuck in an eternal concert at HalloWeekends. Expect live music, clown-faced concertgoers, and a dose of sinister guitar licks and murderous metal music.
Delicious Seasonal Treats
And what’s a trip to Cedar Point without indulging in some delicious seasonal treats? This year, the culinary team has crafted a lineup of tantalizing options, spicy Nashville chicken and waffle, ring of fire smoked chicken wings, maple sausage on a stick with spicy sriracha maple syrup, and pumpkin pie spiced churros. Don’t forget to try the Oktoberfest pizza with mashed redskin potatoes, smoked kielbasa, sauerkraut, and cheddar cheese.
Spooktacular Entertainment
Entertainment is a big part of the HalloWeekends experience, with more than 12 shows and experiences for all ages. Halloween horror composers Midnight Syndicate, fresh off their #2 debut on Billboard’s classical crossover chart, take the Main Stage on select nights. Their “Echoes of The Brimstone Club” show combines eerie melodies from their latest album with live performers, pyrotechnics, and a few sinister scares.
