At Wild Adventures Theme Park, a simple, unexpected friendship is quietly becoming the kind of story people didn’t know they needed.
Meet Kurtsie and Bakari.
She’s a zebra. He’s a giraffe. And together, they’ve formed an inseparable bond that’s capturing hearts.
Their story began shortly after the park introduced its Giraffe Overlook habitat—an expansive space designed to allow multiple species to interact naturally, much like they would in the wild. From the start, Bakari showed a gentle curiosity toward the zebra herd. Somewhere along the way, that curiosity turned into connection—and Kurtsie became his constant companion.
What started as a simple interaction has grown into a friendship that now sees them spending nearly all their time side by side.
Always Together, in the Simplest Ways
Whether they’re grooming one another, relaxing in the field, or sharing snacks inside the giraffe barn, Kurtsie and Bakari are rarely far apart.
One of the most endearing moments comes during giraffe feedings. As Bakari stretches up for food, Kurtsie stays close—watching, weaving between his long legs, and occasionally nudging him for attention. She doesn’t need to reach the same heights to be part of the moment. Just being there is enough.
It’s a quiet kind of companionship, but one that’s impossible to miss.
Bringing Out the Best in Each Other
According to the park’s animal care team, the friendship has made a real difference for both animals.
Kurtsie has become more relaxed and confident, often taking cues from Bakari’s calm demeanor around caretakers. At the same time, Bakari has grown even more social and playful, thriving with his companion always nearby.
It’s a reminder that connection—no matter how unexpected—can have a meaningful impact.
A Small Story That Feels Big
There’s nothing flashy about this moment. No big announcement, no headline attraction.
Just a zebra and a giraffe who found each other.
And in a world that often feels complicated, that simplicity might be exactly why their story resonates.
