Theme park fans who love capturing the action just got a notable update.
Six Flags has quietly revised its long-standing policy on filming while riding attractions. For the first time, the company now allows limited on-ride recording—but only under very specific conditions.
Under the new procedure, guests may record on rides, including roller coasters, only if they are using a glasses-based micro camera, such as Meta’s smart glasses, and only if those glasses comply with each park’s existing eyewear rules.
Here’s the updated policy language now in effect across Six Flags parks:
“On-ride photography is strictly prohibited on the majority of our attractions without park permission unless the recording device is a glasses-based micro camera (ex: Meta Glasses) that is secured to the head with an approved strap while riding. Small action cameras, including GoPro, DJI Osmo, DJI Pocket, etc. are not permitted on rides and attractions. Please review each ride’s safety guidelines for any additional restrictions.”
Importantly, handheld cameras and action cams remain banned, and ride-specific safety signage posted at each attraction still has the final say.
This marks a meaningful shift from Six Flags’ previous blanket rule, which prohibited all on-ride filming outright—suggesting the company is cautiously adapting to new wearable tech while keeping safety front and center.
Bottom line: POV footage is still highly restricted, but smart-glasses wearers now have a narrow green light—strap secured.
