I recently had the opportunity to visit Kentucky Kingdom for their fall festival, Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom, and I must say—I was thoroughly impressed.

Currently in its third year, the event is beautifully executed, with amazing decor that brings the magic of autumn to life. Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom quickly became a new fall tradition for me, and I’m certain countless other families will feel the same upon experiencing it.

Running every Thursday through Sunday in October, the event offers the perfect balance of thrills and fall fun. Between rides on the park’s world-class coasters, you can explore a hay maze, participate in fall-themed games, and interact with colorful characters. There’s even trick-or-treating for the little ones. And when the sun goes down, the park transforms into a glowing spectacle, with dozens of illuminated pumpkins and towering pumpkin sculptures lighting up the night.

One of the highlights of the event is the Pumpkin Parade. This lively, festive procession features whimsical costumed characters who lead families in dance and celebration. The parade winds through the park, bringing all the seasonal magic to life. It’s the kind of experience that’s perfect for making lasting family memories.

Food lovers will also appreciate the free weekly culinary adventure during Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom. Every Thursday and Friday, the park celebrates a different food theme, offering four unique samples at different locations. The weekly challenge? Taste all the samples and vote for your favorite. For even more seasonal flavors, the Pumpkins Meal Plan is available, featuring autumnal treats like Pumpkin Chili Nachos and Caramel Apple Crisp Bars with ice cream.

And let’s not forget the rides! Kentucky Kingdom’s impressive lineup includes the thrilling Storm Chaser, the first coaster in America with a barrel drop from a 10-story lift hill, and Lightning Run, an exhilarating coaster with an 80-degree drop that will have you chasing the speed of light. The Kentucky Flyer offers family-friendly fun with 1,280 feet of track, while the nostalgic Thunder Run—a personal favorite of mine—continues to deliver.

Conveniently located within a three-hour drive of cities like Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Lexington, Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom is a fall festival that’s not to be missed. Whether you’re in it for the rides, the food, or the fun-filled pumpkin festivities, this event has something for everyone.
