Pete Owens

The National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives (NRCMA), home to the world’s largest collection of historic amusement artifacts, has announced a leadership change as it continues building momentum in West Texas. Pete Owens, a 26-year veteran of the attractions industry, has been selected as the organization’s new chairman. He takes over for Jeff Novotny, who guided the board for the past seven years.

Owens, who joined the NRCMA board in 2009, has long played a key role in raising the museum’s profile. He has helped spearhead media outreach and was instrumental in creating a temporary exhibit for Coaster Con in 2013. Stepping into the chairman role, he emphasized both excitement and responsibility.

“It is an honor to be nominated by and to succeed Jeff Novotny as the chairman of the NRMCA Board of Directors,” Owens said. “I very much look forward to working with my fellow volunteers on the board to continue our momentum and bring this museum to life.”

Several current board members were also re-elected to new four-year terms, reinforcing stability as the museum pushes forward with its long-term vision. Walt Bowser, Chris Gray, Pete Owens, Richard Munch, Carol Sanderson and Gary Slade will continue contributing their experience and industry knowledge.

Although the future permanent facility is still taking shape, the NRCMA continues to welcome fans during special events and encourages the public to visit. The organization stresses that community engagement and support remain essential to preserving the rare artifacts and rich stories that define theme park history.
