Kings Island has once again transformed into a vibrant celebration of international culture with the return of Grand Carnivale, a limited-time event that immerses guests in music, dance, food, and dazzling nighttime festivities.
Running through Sunday, August 3, the festival is included with park admission and brings together the spirit of global traditions with a modern, family-friendly twist.
A Royal Welcome and High-Energy Entertainment
The festivities kick off daily at 6 p.m. with the Royal Opening Ceremony, where the King and Queen of Grand Carnivale arrive in regal fashion near the base of the Eiffel Tower. From there, the park pulses with energy thanks to Hot Rhythm Nights, a stage show featuring an upbeat mix of today’s hits and nostalgic party classics performed with dance, rhythm, and crowd interaction.

The celebration hits its peak each evening with the Spectacle of Color Parade, a vibrant procession of larger-than-life floats, stilt walkers, dancers, and characters representing different world cultures. The parade makes stops along its route, inviting guests to join in on the fun before the night concludes with the Royal Send-Off, a multimedia experience featuring fireworks, lasers, lights, music, and synchronized drones.
A Culinary Tour Without Leaving Ohio
Grand Carnivale’s menu spans five countries—China, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain—with each offering authentic festival-inspired tastes served from uniquely themed booths.
Two dishes I had my eye on and tried from the Italy menu: the Pizza Raviolo—tender pasta filled with herbed ricotta, breaded and lightly fried, then topped with marinara, pepperoni, and melted provolone—and the Italian Sausage Hoagie, loaded with grilled sausage, peppers, onions, marinara, and melted cheese.

Wish they still offered the tasting cards… I’d be all in on trying even more!
For those looking to toast the occasion, the park offers international cocktails and mocktails crafted just for the event. Highlights include the tropical Carnivale Cocktail, the citrusy Melon Mixer, and the frozen Raspberry Beret featuring Chambord liqueur and tart lemon-lime flavors.
Hands-On Fun and Kid-Friendly Exploration
Younger guests can take part in the Passport to Adventure, a scavenger-style experience where participants explore each cultural zone, scan QR codes, collect stamps, and earn a reward upon completion. It’s a fun way for families to mix fun with learning.
At Carnivale Crafts, kids and adults alike can unleash their creativity by making their own parade-ready accessories like jeweled crowns, colorful masks, and noisemakers.
Whether you’re there for the food, the entertainment, or just the electric vibe throughout the park, Grand Carnivale is an experience you don’t want to miss. I had fun soaking in the sights and flavors—and I’ll definitely be back before it ends on August 3.
